Travel Expense Compliance Reporting - Input requested

Good Morning all!

My institution is updating our travel expense compliance reporting as it was designed for a process we no longer use. I am hoping to gather some input from our peer institutions to better assist with that update. My questions for the hive mind are:

What travel expense compliance reporting areas have been valuable to report out for your institution?

How do you leverage your travel expense compliance reporting to generate value?

Do you utilize your travel expense compliance reporting to create educational moments for your constituents? If so, what metrics and mechanisms do you use to accomplish that?

What are areas that have been pitfalls or less successful in travel expense compliance reporting for your institution?

What is the primary focus of your travel expense compliance reporting? I.e. is this only used for regulatory/policy requirements? Do you focus on best practices and if so, how much weight are they given?

Our previous travel expense compliance reporting was widely viewed as a "naughty list" and I am hoping to avoid that pitfall and provide relevant educational moments with our updated travel expense compliance reporting. My goal is to be able to utilize trend lines in travel expense compliance reporting to focus and target our educational outreach more effectively. Thanks for your time and input! 🙂
