Hello my friends!
Don't laugh on this but University of Utah requires all travel receipts for anything over $25. Yes, it is an outdated policy dating back to the 1800s. What are your University's limits? What dollar amount are receipts required? Anybody have no receipts are required if its done with a TCard?
We require all travel receipts unless the expense is Daily Meal Per Diem or personal car mileage. We require them even if it's on the TCard.
Hi Darrin,
I won't laugh. 🙂 At Caltech receipts are required for individual miscellaneous expenses of $75 or more. But we require a receipt regardless of dollar amount for airfare, car rental, lodging and registration. Good luck!

Hi, Darrin,
We at JMU require all receipts with the exception of meals for overnight travel (we provide meal per diems) and less than $75 for tolls, parking, taxi.
Tina
Tulane, same as Caltech, but we prefer our travelers do per diem if possible. All receipts for meals, entertainment, and hotel rooms must be itemized.
At Vanderbilt, Original receipt documentation for all expenses equal to or greater than $75 is required in line with IRS requirements
*unless traveler must have receipts $25 or higher due to federal grant.
*unless a college/school/department requires lower threshold ( one does )
*unless traveler is utilizing daily per diem of $59 per day
Changing to the $75 threshold was a HUGE win for us and also implementing the daily per diem helped as well.
This post is going Viral! 🙂 I'm gonna be SCTEM rich!
KEEP those answers coming!!!
At East Carolina University, we, too, require receipts on all reimbursements for items with the exception of per diem as we give them the per diem rates, assujing not provided by registration, etc.
If they l0ose or cannot get a receipt, they will get an affidavit for missing receipt form.
