The University of Arkansas is looking to create a policy for travelers needing accommodations. We've had some requests from individuals that need accommodations for traveling that our General Council doesn't believe would be in the best interest of the university for liability reasons. (This includes the aid of non-university employees.) Would anyone be willing to share what your institution currently has in place or even thoughts of what is considered a reasonable accommodation?
This policy will reside with the Office of Equal Opportunity and Compliance, but I was asked if I had any insight as to what other institutions had in place.
Thanks in advance to anyone willing to share.

Hello Kimberly,
This is what the University of Texas at Arlington recently published. It is mainly related to seat upgrades. Basically, they have to go through the HR Workplace Accomodations process in order for the University to pay for upgrades.

Travelrs may not use university funds to pay for seat upgrades from coach/economy unless an approved accommodation has been requested and approved following UTA Procedure HR-E-PR-19 Requesting Disability Related Workplace Accommodations. Travelers must receive an approved accommodation from the UTA ADA Coordinator prior to traveling. Accommodations may not be made retroactively.
