We are preparing an RFP soon to source an International Travel Emergency Insurance Provider like SOS. If you are happy with your supplier or have a good list of suppliers for this RFP, please share. Also, if travelers book through your program, is there an automatic "accurate" feed to your insurance provider? Is the information accurately updated and how are you billed, set fee, daily fee while abroad or contracted monthly fee based on number of trips typically taken?
If you have some sample RFPs that would be very helpful as well!
Thank you,
Laney
Hi Laney,
Rutgers is currently using On Call International; they were selected specifically because of their experience with higher education. We have not yet implemented an automated data feed, but are currently working with our agency to verify requirements. On Call supports three different data feed options - a queue placement from the GDS, a PNR drop through a XML/JSON push, or an integration with their API.
Something to consider in your approach is that these service providers (International SOS, On Call International, etc.) are not insurance providers - they provide medical and security assistance services that are billed/submitted through your existing insurance policy. I just wanted to point out that they are not meant to be a replacement for existing insurance provider - both need to be in place.
I'll check to see if I'm able to track down and share our RFP. I was not yet here at Rutgers when they awarded the bid.
Thanks,
Mike
Thank you Mike, this is helpful!
