Curious how our members like to consume training? Short videos, web conferences, in person (difficult these days), reading materials, etc.
I prefer short videos with the ability to speak with someone live for follow up questions or via chat.
I prefer short videos also with an individual's contact info for follow up, if needed.
I like short videos and reading materials, both of which are informative but get straight to the point.
I like hands on training followed with a step by step guide (not complicated) for future reference.
I'd love to see how others provide training material to their users. We are building on different methods: visual guides, short outline guides (2 page max), videos, etc.
At our university, we have the following types of training materials for users:
1. Detailed Visual Guides: These go step-by-step through a process with screenshots, tips and notes.
2. Quick Steps: These are straight step-by-step guides without screenshots, tips, or notes. Most of these are 1 to 2 pages, but a few are 3 to 4.
3. Videos: Right now we only have a training video, but soon we will be developing video tutorials for a majority of our procedures.
4. Tips to Know: These are one-sheet helpful tips for Pre-Approvals and Expense Reports.
5. FAQs: These are frequently asked questions that users can review.
