Univ of Michigan uses the GSA per diem rates which vary by destination city and are built into Concur. The amount includes a $5 incidental. Travelers are allowed 75 percent of the per diem amount on the first and last days of travel. https://procurement.umich.edu/u-m-employees/travel-expense-reporting/travel/

UNC Chapel Hill is switching to the GSA Rates in two weeks (ahhhh I'm busy!). This will include the $5 incidental for domestic travel. Travelers will not be permitted to submit out of pocket tips separately for reimbursement since those are covered by the incidental amount received.

Hello- University of Pittsburgh's preference is the GSA rate and we allow the $5 incidental increment. Some departments require actual cost to be submitted not to exceed the per diem amount. Pitt policy allows departments to be more strict than what is stated in policy, departments can't make it more permissive.

Thanks
