Dear all,
Does your university have policies or best practices related to tipping drivers for food delivery services (e.g., UberEats, DoorDash, etc.)? This would be separate from catered events with setup and service and would exclusively apply only for food delivery delivers, as no catering services/setup is provided by the delivery driver. We are considering potentially implementing a tipping limit (maximum) for food delivery services of this nature and would greatly appreciate any feedback and/or suggestions.
Our university policy currently allows tipping up to 20%: "Tips for meals should not exceed 20% and effective immediately, should be based on the subtotal that excludes fees only (such as for food delivery)."
We had discussed creating a limit since we had received feedback from campus that some individuals are tipping 20% ($200.00) for $1,000.00 delivery orders in which the driver’s service consists of a ten to 15 minute drive to campus to just drop off the food.
Thank you very much for your feedback, we greatly appreciate it. Please let me know if you have any questions or if I can provide any additional information.
Sincerely,
Valerie Cordova
