Are students allowed to book travel through your travel portals?

Hi LaRona! Yes, students are allowed to book reservations through our approved booking channels. We specifically picked Student Universe as one of our booking channels to offer significantly discounted airfare and hotel rates to students. Hope that helps!

Tulane is in the process of adding students right now. We are manually entering a few students summer program abroad groups as use cases. After that goes well, we are auto feeding the students to travel from HR, just like we do with employees. We created a different rule class for them (we use Concur), so no additional account fees, just transaction fees. This also allows us to set different policy rules for students and to block car rental access. Most of the students will not be over 25, so we provided a link to the under 25 program we contracted. We are requiring that students use our booking tool or agency for all flights Tulane related, even if they are not being refunded. Our TMC got our students home last spring, but it was not easy and we had to purchase new tickets, significant cost to the university. We want the ability to change their tickets if anything like this comes up again, also to have access to their locations. When they book this way, they will automatically be enrolled with our international emergency and evacuation insurance provider.

Currently, students are not allowed to book travel through our travel portals. They work with staff/faculty who arrange it on their behalf via our travel management system.
